Vacuum Wood Drying Equipment Used in the Field of Mahogany Drying

Pulished on Jun. 10, 2020

There are many methods for drying mahogany, including conventional drying method, vacuum drying method, and air drying conventional combined drying method. Solid wood bending machine factory shares with you.

(1) Conventional drying method: The conventional drying method is a convection heating drying method with hot and humid air as the drying medium. It has many structural forms and is a method of drying wood used more in wood processing enterprises. There are many heating methods (can be divided into conventional steam, hot water drying, and conventional furnace gas drying); the volume of the loading material varies widely (small ones are several cubic meters, large ones are hundreds of cubic meters), which can meet various production requirements, the drying process is easy to master and control. Most of the mahogany product manufacturers have little annual wood processing volume, mixed species of trees, and many changes in board specifications. Therefore, kiln bodies with a volume of about 15-25m3 are selected. For the gas kiln, the end fan type is selected, and for the steam and hot water kiln, the overhead fan is selected. The formula is better, the air circulation in the small kiln material stack is more uniform, and the difference in temperature and humidity is small, which can not only meet the output needs but also achieve better drying quality.

(2) Vacuum drying method: Vacuum drying method is also widely used at home and abroad. The vacuum kiln body is a cylindrical metal structure with good compression resistance and good sealing. The drying principle is to use the vacuum degree in the tank to reduce the boiling point of water and accelerate the speed of water movement in the wood, thereby increasing the drying speed and shortening the drying time. Therefore, when the vacuum drying method is selected, the drying temperature is low, which can reduce or avoid drying defects such as internal cracks and shrinkage of the wood. The vacuum drying method is more suitable for drying hard hardwood thick plates, and it has a good drying effect on the hardwood with good permeability.

(3) Air-drying and conventional combined drying: air-drying is atmospheric drying, which has a low drying cost. The correct air-drying is not easy to cause drying quality problems in the drying stage of high moisture content of wood, and the drying speed is also acceptable, while the wood contains water When the rate is lower than the fiber saturation point (FSP), the drying speed is too slow. If the semi-dry material after air-drying is dried by the conventional drying method, this can significantly shorten the kiln drying time. After air-drying, the surface of the wood board is very smooth, and no defects such as surface hardening, honeycomb cracking, and shrinkage will occur. Air-drying and conventional combined drying are also more effective methods to improve wood drying quality and reduce drying costs. Air-drying is easy to implement. After the air-drying is finished, loading the wood into the conventional drying kiln can greatly improve work efficiency, save time, reduce costs, and achieve better economic benefits.
